South Lakeland District Council is looking forward to being part of the Festival of Food that now takes place annually during the October half term.  Officers will be available at the Field to Fork day to provide advice on food safety and will be showing members of the public safe practices they can use at home when storing and preparing food.  SLDC will also be talking to people about a new 'National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme' that the council is planning to introduce in April 2012.  All food businesses will be awarded with a score rating based on how well they manage food safety, including safe food handling practices and cleanliness.
