Organisers turn up the heat as Trio of celebrity foodies sign up to this year’s Festival
Kendal Festival of Food has announced that three very well known foodies will take part in its event this year, adding to an already jam-packed programme of tasty treats.
The festival, which is a huge celebration of Northern food, takes place on the 12th and 13th of March in the pretty market town and will now add the strings of Paul Rankin, Ewan Lacy and Nick Nairn to its bow.
Celebrity chefs Rankin and Nairn will both host the Best of Cumbria stage throughout the entire festival and will themselves offer demonstrations at 11am each day, while drinks expert Lacey will lead a session at the festival’s exclusive Northern Spirit event on the Saturday evening – a vibrant night celebrating the region’s very best spirits including regionally crafted vodkas, gins and a number of high quality Scottish whiskies.
This is in addition to all the other festival action which includes the Edible Garden at Wainwright’s Yard complete with informative talks from gardening experts, an entire Family Festival Village offering a whole mini-festival for kids, over 80 stalls of regional produce within the England’s North Country Market, an Ale Trail and the Beer Festival, all complemented by live music and street entertainment.
Wristbands for the festival cost from £20 per adult or from £14 per child for the full weekend and tickets for Northern Spirit costs £20 per person including a hearty taster platter, live music and access to a host of whisky, vodka and gin tastings and masterclasses with samples included.
